II. Deadline for MBA applications at the Stuttgart Institute of Management and Technology (SIMT)

Global careers with global businesses

What is expected of business graduates nowadays? An excellent knowledge of business, skills which have been well-practiced in renowned companies, contacts which will aid an employer in business development, international experience which has been character-building and English-language skills close to native-speaker levels. The list of requirements is getting longer by the day and fewer and fewer educations institutes can offer their students, what is nowadays seen by industry, as a basic higher education. However, ranked 20th in Europe according to the Global Top 100 Business Schools survey, the Business School SIMT in Stuttgart, Germany is certainly in a position to offer what every employer dreams of: An MBA in all-around international business culture.

The Stuttgart Institute of Management and Technology (SIMT) in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg is an offspring of three internationally renowned universities: the Universität Stuttgart, the Universität Hohenheim and the Eberhard-Karls-University Tübingen. These institutions provide unparalleled research facilities and think-tanks providing the SIMT with an excellent base to educate its students. But the world of business cannot operate on theory alone.

Here location is a key factor. A Business School can truly be called a business school if it is near business. And the SIMT certainly is: Baden-Württemberg in the German south-west, is home to global players such as DaimlerChrysler, Porsche and Bosch to name but a few. Close co-operation with these companies and others ensures that students are able to put their well-founded theoretical knowledge into hard business practice with the crème de la crème of industry. Students profit not only from work-experience but also from a wide breadth of contacts: networking is the essence of business and this requirement is also catered for.

The SIMT MBA courses are taught in English and the SIMT students benefit from close partnerships with universities worldwide. The next MBA course will begin in September 2005. Limited places are available and deadline for applications is 30th June 2005.

III. DAAD award for SIMT Graduate

Wilhelm Ramberg (31) is an Industrial Engineer who has worked for almost seven years in several different areas across the value chain, including production planning, procurement, distribution, and sales, in two of the most important industrial groups in his native country.

Wilhelm Ramberg graduated in 2005. In December, he received a mention by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as the best foreign student at SIMT.

SIMT: the Total Package

When I started my research on MBA programs, I was prompted by my German roots to look for a program in Europe, especially in Germany. I began my search in 2001. After learning more  about SIMT, I became very enthusiastic.  I was convinced that, although it was a very young institution, several factors made SIMT the right school for me.  First of all, it has the support of the best universities in the region. Secondly, its strategic industrial location in the heart of a very dynamic cluster is a huge advantage. Thirdly, it is sponsored by successful global companies. Fourthly, the content of the International Management program complemented my background perfectly.  Finally, the city of Stuttgart offers something for everyone, and is located in the heart of Europe, with almost instant access to France, Italy, and Switzerland, among others. These factors, combined with the prestige that the school had already gained in such a short time, made the decision to come to Stuttgart an easy one.
